Losing Hope

My seeds are in there trying hard to grow. Vermont in April sure can be a challenging time for a gardener.

And for garlic:

They're cold, and there's not a lot of weather hope in store for this week.

Makes me think I should just resign myself to buying plants.

  1. Nice greenhouse, but lots of cold weather left, I bet! I imagine even if I had a greenhouse, I'd still end up having to buy starter plants -- I've tried and failed many times...

  2. Well, it's not much warmer in Michigan either. Although I did put my pansies in my flower boxes and in my urns CLOSE to the house!

Found this little garden plan for you - maybe you can post a copy in your green house to give you some hope:

First, plant three rows of peas: passion, performance and persistence.
Then three rows of squash: squash gossip, squash indifference and squash criticism.
There should be three rows of lettuce too. Let us be true to our obligations. Let us be unselfish. And let us be loyal.
Next, plant four rows of turnips: Turn up when needed. Turn up with determination. Turn up with a vision. And most of all, turn up with a smile.
To complete your garden, you must have thyme: Time for fun. Time for family and friends. And time for yourself.
Water freely with patience and cultivate with affection. If you do all this, you will reap what you sow.
